Handling Rejection

We all encounter rejection at some point in our life. Rejection can be a painful and insulting experience. Don't let rejection change your course in life. Being rejected should make you a stronger person. It gives you an opportunity to do a self assessment to address your weakness to avoid any future rejection. 

Sometimes when you experience rejection it's not you that has the problem it's the other person's inability to see your worth. That's not your problem just move on it's their loss not yours. 

Staying positive is a must if you want to overcome rejection. Always pick yourself up when you hit any wall in life. Tenacity is a quality that you need to reach your goals in life.

Bring in the Business Analyst

We live in a world with technology to give businesses the ability to run an efficient operation. Well that's not going to happen if the wrong components and processes are in place or it's time for a technology refresh.  

The Business Analyst is the person that needs to understand how the business operates to meet their objectives now and into the future. A good Business Analyst needs to roll up their sleeves and get dirty digging for information. A Business Analyst needs to work with the business units by documenting the process flow by observation and asking a lot of questions. Spend a week with the business unit that is targeted for improvement to get a good feel on how they operate.

Something to remember when you work on improving a process. I was told by an instructor in a class I attended on process improvement, "If you can measure it, you can manage it."

I want it ASAP or at COB

When you need answers or a response quickly. Never ever use ASAP. As soon as possible really means you will get a response when the person makes the time to get back to you on their convenience. You will be waiting for a call or email that you might not get for awhile. Be firm and set an agreed upon date and time for a response.

I need your status at COB. Close of business can be ambiguous in companies that operates 24 x 7. Some units might shut down for the day and some never shut down so what time are we talking about. You need to be clear to get everyone on the same page. I need your status at 6pm PST. Indicate the time zone you are in to not leave any confusion out there if business units are spread across different time zones.

Watching a January sunset on the beach. The weather is so nice. The sunset lights up the sky with a warm glow as it descends into the horizon. The beach is full of spectators taking pictures to capture the moment. The sailboats line up in the horizon to have a front row view of the sun going down to end another beautiful day in the Aloha State.
