The Cinderella - College Fund via GoFundMe.com

I started a project to spread some Aloha to a dear Filipina friend working in China to support her family. I researched a crowd funding website called GoFundMe.com to find out if it's a good resource to create a campaign to raise money for a good cause. I setup an account in a short time it's so easy to do. They have excellent customer support. I had some questions and they were awesome answering it.

The goal of the project is to raise enough money to secure payments for two semesters of college in the Philippines for my friend's son who just graduated from High School.

The campaign to fund raise is called: The Cinderella - College Fund because she is a real life Cinderella working so hard to support her family back home. She now has an extra expense, college tuition to pay. Her dream is for her son to attended college. I want to help grant her dream.

Please help me grant it. Thank you!

Who would you like to meet in real life?

We live in a world that idolizes celebrities, sports figures and famous people. I did some soul searching and decided on none of those type of people. I want to meet a regular person. I found that special person on the other side of the world from where I live by chance. Social Media has a global reach. We just connected on social media and developed a special friendship. That person is very special to me now because we slowly got to know each other real good by sharing our daily life activities though the years.

I meet a lot of people on social media who I correspond with. I met online a real nice person. I have done Skype video chats and Viber calls so I know that person is real not a scammer. That college football player from Notre Dame, Manti Te'o had a fake girl friend that was an unfortunate situation. I don't know what Manti was doing that he fell for a hoax they call catfishing.

The real life person that I want to meet one day is the humble young woman who just happens to look like a Filipina movie star. She is working in China to support her family in the Philippines. I call her the Filipina Cinderella because she has a tough life working in China. Her husband abandon her and provides no support for the children so she had to seek employment abroad to earn a good salary to provide for her family.

Hard work reaps results. I found out her eldest son just recently graduated from High School and will be attending college. She was unable to attended his graduation. Her attitude and her christian faith get's her through tough times in life. She is not a complainer. She will make the best of any situation.

I know one day that Cinderella will meet a Prince and live happily ever after. She just lives one day at a time. She makes life an adventure. I learn from her all the time about life. She is my real life role model.

Just A Good Project Manager

A Project Manager needs good people skills to be a leader. Project Managers need to exude confidence not arrogance, but have humility. True respect is earned remember that. You are the captain of the ship running the project with your team members looking to you for guidance. It’s a team effort that everyone’s contribution no matter how small it may look plays an important part of the project. You as a Project Manager need to create that atmosphere in your team.

It’s your choice on the approach to delivering a successful on-time projects. Remember you might have to work with these people again unless you’re a consultant or contractor who moves on and does not care how success is achieved.
In closing a good Project Manager does not have to come across as a person to fear. Be the Project Manager with charisma that everyone wants to work for and be around. Respect goes a long way and people will watch your back when you are respected.
I have seen an dealt with many arrogant Project Managers that give the profession a black eye.

My Utility Server

I was privileged to work at two companies that allowed me to have my own personal Microsoft Server to support the enterprise. I had a physical server at one company and a VMware server at another company. I was responsible for maintaining my server. I installed all my support utilities and applications on it. I staged documentation on it to latter upload to SharePoint.

The server was my personal assistant that I could not live without. I used it all the time to VPN into to provide remote support. I had a desktop PC in my office to use when I was there. I was a very busy Systems Administrator who also was a Project Manager too. Always away from my desk all the time so my personal server came in very handy to connect to from a guest PC when I was not in my office.

How to be a Champion

Super Bowl 49 the Patriots vs Seahawks on the grand stage to battle it out to find out who will be the champion on a Sunday afternoon on February 1, 2015. You can be in a game giving it all you got by battling your way to a possible victory in your hands in the last seconds of the game with a great coach and team behind you.

What happens when you failed to execute by literally throwing your chance away in a split second by an unanticipated obstacle in your way that ends your chance of a spectacular victory?

Your season is over in a heartbreaking loss. You lose as a team and win as a team no finger pointing. We can learn from the Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson, he bounced back with a new haircut on Monday and visited the Seattle Children's Hospital on Tuesday after the heartbreaking loss on Sunday. He is going on with his life moving forward leaving the past in the past.

The moral to the story is to not let any loss or misfortune take you down and eat away at you. It's natural to ponder what if? Learn from the past and lift your head up high and say we will be back again and move on and live in the present not in the past. If you can do this you are a champion.

Go Hawks!
